$22 Billion Global Online Advertising |GACMS Eps 120
WOW, $22 Billion Dollars were spent globally, in the 3rd quarter, of 2015!
Today, we'll go over why Online Advertising is so important and why it's a Billion Dollar industry. If you're not spending online, for ads, what are you spending your money on?
Facts & Stats Segment: Talking about online Internet advertising!
How many billions of dollars was spent last year, 2015? $22 billion spent on online advertising globally. This is in the last the third quarter of 2015. In the United States alone, there was $15 billion with online advertising. I mean everyone from Joe's snack shop to their conglomerates, Coca-Cola, Budweiser, all those different music entertainment, all those combined were in the billions.
In fact, it’s estimated by 2020, can you imagine 2020, they're going to estimate $1.7 trillion in online ads.
Now, I was just reading an article the other day that a lot of that is click fraud, fake clicks, friends, likes fake views, all these types of things, that the industry is, never going to get away from fraud.
About $7 billion of that is going to be a fraud! So you can imagine that almost a third of online ads, are fraud using bots and scripts and robots.
Book-Mark-It Segment: Get all my facts and stats and where you can go to get great content and great statistics, on what the industry is doing. Go over to Clickz.com this is one my favorite websites I like to go to for stats and data. Hubspot.com is really fantastic! If you're not familiar with Hubspot.com, they come out with a bunch of PDFs, infographics, all about segmenting markets and price comparisons.
It's crazy out of love different information. I wish I had that but you know I don't have the employees they have so collecting all this data, so that's why it's better for you to go to Hubspot.com.
Another website that I like to go to is called Emarketer.com. Now, talked about this in the past they do a lot of different graphs, if you like multiple surveys and what people were thinking, what they said will, answers, polling data, all that type of stuff, that you find, on what works and what doesn't. You can go over to you Emarketer.com
Asked Me Segment:
I have this question yesterday, “Which is better to do online advertising or print advertising? Now, if you've been living in a cave for the last 20 years, you would probably still ask that question.
Print advertising is gone by the wayside. If you haven't noticed magazine subscriptions, no longer use hardcopy printing. Just take a look around, at the different ways, that people are absorbing the content. So obsessed with their phones, that you can get all your information right from your phone. Print advertising has gone by the wayside. People that use it have big budgets, were talking about hundreds of thousands of dollars being spent, on print advertising is a waste of money. Here's the other thing, you can't track print advertising, if you're advertising, in the newspaper, the only thing you can do to track, is to cut out a coupon and bring it to the store.
The major benefit with online advertising is you can track it. You can change it on a dime, if your headline doesn't work or your picture is not working, you can change it, within a few hours, instead of days, waiting for print.
I remember back in the day in 1988-89, I was doing mail order, and I would have to write to the companies, the magazines, periodicals, let me have your rate card. Schedule these three months out, 90 days, if you place an order now or 90 days, will be in print. Internet advertising wasn't even a thought back then, not our minds. This is why it’s a $22 billion business!
DIY segment:
Today were talking about, where you can go to get the best prices and the best targeting. When I first started out in Internet marketing back in 1996-1997, I started looking around and basically, this is when Yahoo was just coming out. I didn't have a lot of money for Yahoo of course, it was cheap back then, before small businesses and things maybe the they can scale.
So what happened was, if you wanted to achieve targeted advertising, you would advertise in somebody's e-mail newsletter. You would if you're on one of those peoples newsletter, you would contact them, said I got to $10 dollars a week . They would release, anywhere from 3000 people or more, that were dedicated to that topic, to that niche, or up to 25,000 people. Then the of the price increased, as you go. One of the places I went too back then, was BuyandSellAds.com. Once you go there, you can pick out your categories, which ever your product or service is. Go to business and finance and you go into the different channels and shows you the types of impressions, how many impressions they get a month, and you can go there and negotiate different prices that they have listed there.
The other BIG one, is Facebook. Facebook is so great at targeting! Especially, since they went public. Really scrutinizing the target markets, in the niches, that you can go to. People making hundreds of thousands of dollars, on Facebook using their ad platform I use Power Editor, to go deep into the audiences, into online buyers. I could segment online buyers, who bought before, in the last 30 days. It's astounding!
Twitter ads if looking for some fast reaction, fast comments. Twitter also has great targeting. We'll go into that another time, in my other classes my 21 online classes! You can really customize your audiences and do that for starters, if you don't know where else to go.
